Cassian Andor, spaceport

Star Wars lore

Inspired by the Star Wars universe

This project was born from an idea that came to me while watching the first season of Andor. It brought back memories of my childhood, when I first discovered that fantastic universe, a world that continues to influence and inspire me every day.

I've always been drawn to retro-futurism, and this project is a personal homage to that aesthetic. The spaceport, a recurring symbol in sci-fi, served as my central setting. But I didn’t want to create just another generic, repetitive spaceport, I wanted to tell a small story through the environment itself. It was also an opportunity to challenge myself with lighting direction and visual storytelling through detail.

If you look closely, you'll notice that the mesh isn't particularly high-resolution. However, with intentional lighting and composition choices, I was able to guide the viewer's eye and achieve a more cinematic feel.

For the CRT layout, I developed a custom tool to simulate effects like dithering and holographic distortion on several 3D assets I created with a friend, including a Lambda-class shuttle that appears in the midground. It was quickly modeled and textured, but served perfectly for experimentation. This part of the process was a lot of fun, especially when I started exploring "avatar-like" visuals using a dithering effect I built in After Effects. I was heavily inspired by the work of John Provencher, an artist who brilliantly merges internet culture and digital aesthetics in his art.

I also spent some time doing R&D on CRT televisions to achieve a more realistic and stylized look. My goal was to create a modular and procedural system that could be easily animated and reused. Drawing from my references, I aimed to recreate the mood of the Rebel hangar on the planet Hoth reimagined in an alternate universe.

on this base, i just replicate this tool on sevaral meshes and go throught after effect to add some dithering effect
